Flow recently attended the launch of Greenhouse restaurant, which has undergone a “reimagining” – accompanied by a brand-new website built by Flow.
Greenhouse restaurant is situated at The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel, part of The Collection by Liz McGrath, a group that includes The Marine in Hermanus and The Plettenberg in Plettenberg Bay.
The restaurant is the recipient of numerous awards, including being named as restaurant of the year in the 2011 Eat Out DStv Food Network Restaurant Awards.
Under Peter Tempelhoff, The Collection by Liz McGrath’s executive chef, it was time to freshen things up a bit, starting with new decor for the restaurant, the new website and a new menu.
Flow was tasked with building an interactive minisite that will take the visitor on a journey inside the Greenhouse kitchen, and showcase the great local ingredients used. We also had to come up with a social media strategy and create a buzz around Greenhouse.

“The aim of the minisite is to encourage an interactive Greenhouse experience, an engagement with the food, the ingredients, the people and the space, in a digital environment,” says Kate Rau, Flow’s Cape Town manager.
“The content is simple and clean, with a focus on seasonality, locally sourced ingredients and food innovation. The user is invited on a journey into the kitchen – and is left feeling like they want to know more.”
After a lot of hard work behind the scenes getting ready for the launch, it was great to kick back and celebrate over great food. There was a great mix of friends and family, top food bloggers, magazine editors and chefs at the launch event, and the hashtag #greenhousect ended up trending on Twitter for the night.
As we had expected from the launch, Tempelhoff served delicious food from the tasting menu. A live band entertained the guests, while they decided which dish to taste first.
Jacqui Elliott, CEO of The Collection by Liz McGrath, says she’s very pleased with the website Flow contributed.
“Team Flow Cape Town immediately understood what we wanted to achieve, then surpassed our expectations. It was such a pleasure working with every one of you, and I certainly look forward to many more exciting digital activations in the future,” she comments.
