Flow has developed a fresh website to showcase two luxury game lodges in the Madikwe Game Reserve.
The Jaci’s Lodges website juxtaposes the raw wildlife of Madikwe and the stylish décor of the lodges to portray an oasis of comfort in the thorny scrubland of North West Province.
The history of the lodges as well as the origins of Madikwe and its endangered wild dog population also feature, along with informative blogs that offer personal insight into the wildlife, birds and unique landscape to be found in Madikwe.
Following a recent visit to the lodges, Flow writer Jade Archer recalls: “Travelling to the magnificent Madikwe Game Reserve and Jaci’s Lodges to carry out my own research was an absolute pleasure.
“Not only has this project taught me about hyena siblicide, but it’s also allowed me to work with the social networking platforms that we include on our websites to make them more interactive,” adds Jade.
The site features real-time Twitter updates on the latest wildlife sightings, a Flickr photo-sharing facility for visitors and a Facebook networking platform where holiday memories can be shared.
Flow programmer Tumelo Mphafe says he particularly enjoyed the project because the landscape and animal images reminded him of his home country, Botswana, adding that setting up the video gallery provided him with “a rewarding technical challenge”.
