After a few mouth-watering weeks of staring at gorgeous images of food, I’m happy to announce that Flow recently launched the new Origins Restaurant minisite.

Located in Hermanus, the restaurant is part of The Marine hotel, one of three properties that make up The Collection by Liz McGrath.

Each property has a signature restaurant, and last year, Greenhouse at The Cellars-Hohenort in Constantia got a revamp. This year, it was Seafood at The Marine, which has now reopened with a new look, and a new name. Here's how the new Origins Restaurant is described:

At Origins we look back to look forward. We look back to our beginning: the Khoisan, our First People, to tell a story of our region’s culture, cuisine and ingredients, to run a restaurant that’s fuelled by the joy of sharing fine, local food and drink. Chefs Peter Tempelhoff and Grant Parker search out indigenous and endemic produce to create menus that explore a history of flavour, in a modern, kitchen-focused restaurant. Shared plates with local beers, or three courses with terroir-driven wines, it doesn’t matter. At Origins we just want you to eat, drink, share, and explore the rich heritage of ingredients and food our beautiful region provides.

When Greenhouse was revamped last year, Flow was approached to build a standalone minisite that would speak to the space's new look and feel. The same was required here for Origins. The two minisites had to have some similarity, since they both fall under the Liz McGrath umbrella, but different enough that they conveyed the sense of the two very different spaces.

Much of the Origins site owes its appeal to some beautiful food photography, shot by Bruce Tuck. It's also clean and simple, mobile-friendly and, most importantly, you can book your table online right from the home page.

Apart from the built-in website gallery, there is also an Instagram feed integrated into the site

I think it's a great site, very easy to navigate around and has great visual appeal, says Peter Tempelhoff, the executive chef for The Collection by Liz McGrath. I am very happy with how it turned out and look forward to working on the other two with Flow in the new year.
