Students were taken through the ins and outs of social networking, from navigating the social media landscape to understanding and using the social networks themselves.

Flow Communications’ Managing Director Tiffany Turkington-Palmer gave an overview of social networking and presented a detailed how-to class on the popular network Twitter, while CEO Tara Turkington followed up with a brief introduction to Flickr, a photo-sharing social network.

Tiffany was impressed with the progress of the students after just one session.

“Without knowing much when they walked in, students were up and running on Twitter – tweeting, retweeting, @-ing and DM-ing by the end of the evening,” she said.

“I thought the course was fun, informative, interactive and ESSENTIAL to my future as a journalist/writer,” said Darling Lama Productions writer and producer, Denise Slabbert. “The wine and snacks were pretty fab too!”

Flow School will be repeating the social networking course on 7 September, 2010 from 18h00 to 20h00, while topic for the following session, on 26 October, will be “Getting the most out of Google”.
