Flow Communications supports South African journalists who gather today outside the corporate headquarters of the South African Broadcasting Authority (SABC) in Johannesburg to stand up for freedom of speech and the right of the public to full access to news about events and issues.
Tara Turkington, Flow Communications’ CEO, says the company fully and unequivocally supports the principle of a free and unfettered media.
It’s alarming, she says, when journalists are hindered in reporting fully on the news, whatever that news may be.
“A free press is one of the beacons of the democracy that we all value and prize highly. Flow is in the business of communications: open, honest, transparent communications.
“Journalists are one of our key and critical partner groups. We support any and all calls for the free flow of information. This includes today’s gathering of journalists in Johannesburg, the Right to Know campaign and the daily courageous efforts by journalists and other media workers the world over to bring the news to people,” she says.
