Constitutional Court Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke’s cupboard mirrors the many facets of Wits’ new chancellor. His immaculate suits and ties hang beside his Blue Bulls jersey which he regularly dons in honour of a Saturday afternoon match.
Lawyer, sometime businessman (he was chairman of Telkom and Metropolitan Life, and deputy chair of Nail among other positions), doting father, ex-political prisoner, bookworm, golfer, past politician, workaholic, theatre-lover, cricket fan, history buff, treadmill runner, itchy-footed lover of KwaZulu-Natal … There’s more to Moseneke than funny wigs, dusty tomes and a set of scales.
Moseneke was appointed the eighth chancellor of the University of the Witwatersrand earlier this year. Flow had the privilege of profiling this engaging man for the Wits alumni magazine, Wits Review.
