Every company goes through highs and lows, but we’re happy to say we had more highs than lows.
Check out our 2014 highlights:
A growing coalition of Flowstars
This year we welcomed (and welcomed back) a whole lot of people into the Flow team. The writing team became whole, PR gained a member who comes with a “make it viral” button, and the developers gained more coders.
First-time award-winners #Boom
Winning six awards at the New Generation Digital and Social Media Awards ceremony was a pretty big feat for Flow, which hasn’t previously entered awards competitions.
And it seems that what previous award-winners say might be true: once you start winning, it’s hard to stop. We’re looking forward to bagging many more accolades in future.
Writer Stuart Buchanan was also praised for an article he wrote for Maropeng at the Profile Awards, which recognise and reward journalists for the role they play in telling stories about how science and technology can benefit people’s lives.
Sharing the journeys of legends
We were very honoured to have worked with South African Tourism on both the Mandela Maps and Mahatma Gandhi-inspired tourist attractions projects.
Now people across the world will be able to walk in the footsteps of these heroes, who fought passionately for the rights and freedom of their people.
Grilling up a storm at Nando’s Sandton City
It’s quite clear that our Flowstars are a very talented bunch, so it was with no surprise that Flow PR managed to work the grills – and work them well, might we add – at Nando’s in Sandton City.
Getting customer orders right was a difficult job but our Flow PR stars managed to get it done, no problem.
Delicious Wednesdays
Once we had a taste of what the Five Star Street Chef had to offer, there was no turning back.
From our first bite on 14 January, we’ve had a long and delicious relationship with the food truck.
We’ve been training up a storm here at Flow
From Petra Diamonds and Legalwise to Verigreen and Elizabeth Arden, we’ve been teaching people how to handle the media and have them eating out of their palms.
As self-proclaimed social media gurus, we’ve also given some of our clients the key to the Twitterverse.
Flipping the switch on staff parties – um, meetings
A lot can happen when the company seniors hand over the reins and allow staff to run the monthly staff meetings.
We had a lot of fun revisiting the 70s, partying it up carnival style and even trying our hand at our own version of Idols.
Ain’t no party like a Flowstar party …
Here at Flow, we do more than just sing simple happy birthdays and then go about our days as usual.
Birthdays are special occasions and we make it a point to go all out. Go big or go home, right?
Flow’s got it covered
This year we covered the 12th Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture, presented by Chilean President Michelle Bachelet under the theme “Building social cohesion through active citizenship”.
We also covered the E-Tourism Africa Summit in Cape Town and Johannesburg, where the biggest game players in social media discussed the benefits of social media for businesses. Our very own CEO, Tara Turkington, co-presented a strategy with South African Airways’ new media specialist, Sizwe Mdladla, on how to manage social media accounts in international markets.
All in all, we’ve had an awesome year – and we can’t wait to see what 2015 has in store for us.
