An energised Flow team descended on the 2011 Gauteng Tourism Summit in July.

After doing much of the prep work on the summit mini-site, those involved were keen to see the summit done justice in terms of the coverage and presentation. With a multipronged approach that included site development, photos, video, social networking, reporting and some connectivity troubleshooting, the package was exhaustive, accurate and captured the feel and emotions of the summit.

The venue, a stunningly refurbished Turbine Hall in Newtown, played backdrop to what were an engaging and interactive two days of tourism talk. The summit brought together key industry players and personalities to assess strategies and plot a way forward, to engage practically and debate issues.

Some of the more interesting sessions dealt with lessons from afar, where attention was turned to what drives international big city destinations; and creativity and innovation, during which delegates were told that the future of tourism is online. This was a nice mix of weighing past experience against current and future innovations, and provided some good food for thought.

The two days also provided a challenge in publishing copy and videos timeously, but certainly showed the value of teamwork and understanding the needs of a client. There was effective interaction, between the Flow team members themselves, and between Flow and the Gauteng Tourism Authority, which initiated the summit.

The summit was a great showcase of what Gauteng is capable of.

And Flow was there to capture it all.
