The Origins Centre's website

Situated at Wits University in the education, entertainment and arts hub of Braamfontein, the Origins Centre is the world’s only museum dedicated to exploring and celebrating the history of modern humankind, particularly its emergence in Southern Africa.

Upon entering the museum, visitors are transported back in time, taken through the Stone Age, stages in the development of language, and the rituals and culture of the San. And that’s just the beginning.

Besides the standing exhibition, the museum features top-class technology and interactive materials designed specifically to engage and accommodate younger visitors.

The museum also focuses on the fossils discovered in South Africa and the contribution these fossils have made to understanding the development of humankind. Recently, the centre was home to the sediba fossils, discovered by reader in human evolution at the University of the Witwatersrand, Professor Lee Berger.

During that time, the Origins Centre, in conjunction with Maropeng and the Cradle of Humankind, held a joint ticket programme to enable the public to visit all three venues for the price of one.

The Origins Centre is also currently running the Nearly Mahala Sundays special, just one more way they’re making the museum and learning more about our heritage accessible to ordinary South Africans and foreign visitors alike.

Nearly Mahala Sundays started in April, when the centre slashed its entry prices to R15 on Sundays.

Flow Communications was contacted by the Origins Centre earlier this year to help them rethink and revamp their website, and within six weeks, a fresh, user-friendly site went live.

Today, Flow writes blogs and static web content, attend events, take pictures and upload shop specials for the Origins Centre.
