The Collection by Liz McGrath, a new and valued client of Flow Communications, hosted a very successful tweet-up at the Cellars-Hohenort hotel in Constantia (Cape Town) on Wednesday 26 March. Top food and lifestyle bloggers were invited for a tour of the nine-acre gardens and lunch at the hotel’s Conservatory restaurant. Cellars-Hohenort is part of The Collection by Liz McGrath, which also includes The Marine in Hermanus and The Plettenberg in Plettenberg Bay.
I was lucky enough to crack the nod for the tweet-up and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to learn about how the massive gardens are maintained, and how the hotel is committed to environmentally sustainable principles. Niall McKrill, the hotel’s garden manager, is an excellent tour guide, with an endless knowledge of all things green.
One of the most impressive things I learnt is that Cellars-Hohenort saves more than R140 000 every year by growing its own food. Imagine how much the rest of the country could save if we thought more about this?
The event was a success, with the bloggers sharing a large amount of content with the Twitter and Instagram communities during the tour and lunch, as well as on their blogs afterwards.
Below are some tweets posted during the tweet-up.
