Always striving to keep abreast of changing media trends, Flow Communications signed up to the Flickr photo-sharing platform in August 2008, and celebrated an eight-year milestone in August this year when the account surpassed 2.6-million views – with more than 11 700 images uploaded!
On the flowcomm Flickr account the public has access to a wide selection of high-resolution images captured across the globe. Subject matter ranges from people and places of interest to nature, including a large repository of African species, including the Big Five.
From the Statue of Liberty in New York to China’s terracotta warriors, a monk feeding pigeons in India, a mountain stream in Ireland and red-hot pokers (torch lilies) in South Africa’s Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, the choice is wide and freely available under Flickr’s Creative Commons licence. All that is required is a photo credit linking back to the original image in the flowcomm Flickr account.
The most popular image to date is captioned Sunset joy, Llandudno beach, Cape Town, with nearly 20 200 views, followed by a series of red panda photos shot in Darjeeling, India, one of which has about 11 000 views.
So, whether you’re looking for iconic images of South Africa, Kenya and Namibia, or tourist highlights from the United States, Seychelles, China, Ireland, Russia, the Maldives, India or England, the flowcomm account has it all.
