It’s a rare occasion when it gets cold enough to snow on Table Mountain, but whenever it does happen, there is always a huge interest in seeing pictures of a wintery mountaintop wonderland.
The Flow team in Cape Town had to work quickly on Friday, August 30 2013, to publish photos and video, and update the blog and social media channels for Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, one of Flow’s long-standing clients. We capitalised on the huge interest online and saw record numbers of page views on the day. Here’s another recollection of how we turned into “Snow Communications” for a day:
‘Twas Friday morning, and all through Cape Town
People looked to the mountain – it was white, and not brown!
For the clouds they did gather, and the wind it did blow
And during the night, it had started to snow.
The staff had arrived at Flow Communications
And read about the discovery to cheers and elations
And then got a call from our friends at TMAC
So we grabbed our notebooks, and camera backpack.
The staff at the Cableway were filled with glee
For snow on the mountain is a rare sight to see
They made snowmen, and snowballs and snow angels too
And Flow was there to bring the story to you.
We blogged, and we tweeted, and we updated status
Questions from Facebook began to inundate us
But the slick team at Flow were quick to hit ‘Send’
And very soon ‘Table Mountain’ started to trend.
And now, another poetic contribution from Flow CEO Tara Turkington, recording how quickly it all passed:
Table Mountain Snowman, A Poem
So nice
To be made of ice
But not so cool
When just a pool
