Kate and Tara Turkington have just returned from a trip to Tanzania and Kenya, where they were visiting destinations such as Olduvai Gorge, the gorongoro Crater and the Masai Mara.
Kate is in the final stages of compiling an extensive safari guide for the Fodor’s travel guide series. The book will be published by Random House, New York in 2008 and will be available at good book stores worldwide.
Tara and Kate learnt to dive off Mnemba Island, north of Zanzibar, went for a night drive in the Masai Mara, where they saw a hippo defending the body of a baby wildebeest against a pack of hyenas, and bought T-shirts saying “I visited the Cradle of Mankind (sic)”.
The book will feature travel tips and reserve and lodge reviews for safaris in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, the Victoria Falls on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Kenya.
