Flow Communications

Etana Insurance recently updated the look-and-feel and usability of its website to keep pace with increased activity and growth. Here’s how it all started…

Etana Website Revamp

On 1 January 2010 Flow Communications launched a new website for Etana Insurance that revolutionised communication in the South African insurance industry. It was bold and cheeky, interactive, fresh and well-maintained – just like Etana.

“Life moves fast,” says Gianluca Tucci, a member of the Etana brand team. “If you’re not at the head of the curve, you get left behind…”

When Etana launched its new website almost three years ago – designed, programmed, hosted and maintained by Flow Communications – there were very few local insurance players in the social media space.

“Our new site was cutting-edge in that it brought everyone involved in our business together – our brokers, policyholders, team members and industry stakeholders. Through active communication on our blog and social networks we started building our brand and getting people involved in our business, people who have since added huge value to our company and our brokers.”

In the three ensuing years the site has grown in keeping with the expansion of Etana.

“As as website grows it must constantly be monitored to check that it’s delivering optimally on its brief,” says Flow MD Tiffany Turkington. “Since 2010 the Etana site has been impressively active. Thanks to the company’s strong online communication culture, more and more content is being driven to the site, which is growing in size and attracting record visitor numbers.

“To keep up with this growth, we recently re-programmed blog, people pages, broker portal, risk management section, Etana Academy portal, feeds to our Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr pages, etc. – but packaged them in a more accessible and user-friendly way.

“The end result is an enhanced user journey for our team, our brokers, suppliers, potential clients and anyone else who pays us a visit. Our site is not only for insurance nerds… anyone is welcome to hop on!”
