Cape Town Tourism’s blog is sporting a fresh, new, modern look designed by Flow Communications to showcase more of the site’s rich content and to offer users a more engaging experience.
It boasts vibrant photographs, is easy to navigate and introduces readers to a diverse group of bloggers.
Flow has been working with Cape Town Tourism for almost five years, and the site has seen a number of changes in that time. But this redesign was special in that it allowed our design team to be particularly innovative.
And our colleagues at Cape Town Tourism love it. Cape Town Tourism CEO Mariëtte du Toit-Helmbold has said on Facebook: “Love our new-look blog ... thank you,” while Cape Town Tourism e-marketing manager Kaanita Coleman describes Flow as “blog design heroes”.
“The new Cape Town Tourism blog looks great,” says Kaanita. “In addition to the new design, we now also have better functionality that unlocks all of the great stories we tell.”
For Flow CEO Tara Turkington, the project was a labour of love and an opportunity to work even more closely with Cape Town Tourism.
“This was a fabulous project with Cape Town Tourism, one of our long-standing favourite clients. One of the key reasons for redesigning the blog was that we’d accumulated so much content over the years, much of it was hidden in hundreds of pages. The old listing style of blog posts wasn’t showing off the depth and diversity of the blog content,” she says.
“The new, Pinterest-style design allows us to showcase much more of the rich content we have developed with Cape Town Tourism over the years, and to show off in a more graphic way the most beautiful city on Earth.”
Flow Cape Town manager Roy Barford feels that the work that went into the redesign was well worth it: “We’ve been working with Cape Town Tourism since 2008 and achieved some excellent results in terms of providing quality content on the blog. The design of the blog has changed a few times over the years, but the new design is seriously cutting-edge, definitely something that both Cape Town Tourism and Flow can be proud of.”
Josef van Niekerk, who headed up the programming team, found it a rewarding challenge, and he is immensely proud of the new blog. “It was one of the most engaging and fun projects I’ve worked on,” he says.
