To keep up with the pace of the company’s business growth, Flow Communications has made a number of key appointments during the past few months.
Going with the Flow
Flow recently appointed Tina Brown as the new design studio manager.
Tina takes over from former design studio manager Janet Berger, who started working on an exciting new project to upgrade the exhibition at the Maropeng Visitor Centre, towards the end of 2010.
The exhibition upgrade is being put together by a team of experienced designers under Flow’s newly established sister company, Flow exhibitions, of which Janet has been appointed CEO. As Janet became more involved in this major project, Flow started looking for someone new to manage the design studio, and found the perfect candidate in Tina.
Prior to joining the Flow family, Tina, who holds a diploma in graphic design from the Vaal University of Technology, worked as a creative director at communications and design company Studio 5.
Having worked for advertising and graphic design companies across South Africa, Tina has loads of experience in managing a design team and is also a print expert.
Flow’s journalism division has also had a boost with the appointment of writers/media developers Bianca Bothma, Kate Rau, Tshepiso Seopa and Sally Shaw.
Journalist Bianca Bothma joins Flow after travels through China, Cambodia and South Korea over a three-year period, interspersed with freelancing stints back home.
Kate Rau joined Flow late last year as a writer. She started out as a freelancer and worked her way up in the industry, becoming an editor of ARENA, Wits University’s forerunner to the WITSReview, at 24.
Tshepiso Seopa also joined the writing team this month. Having worked at BizCommunity and Marketing Mix, Big Media and Soweto Community Radio, she brings with her a wealth of online and radio experience.
Flow Cape Town expands
Flow Cape Town also gained itself a project manager with the appointment of Leanne Pohlmann. Leanne was on a fixed contract at Cape Town Tourism when she came into contact with Flow.
At Flow Leanne is responsible for overseeing and directing the traffic of Flow’s Mother City client base, which includes the likes of Cape Town Tourism, the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company, the largest aquarium in Cape Town - Two Oceans Aquarium - and, more recently, Iziko Museums.
