On 25 January 2013, a group of men in drag and women in pink bikinis will take part in a challenge that will see them running 180km in 24 hours in and around Wilderness, just outside George.
The reason? To help Every Boob Counts, an initiative aimed at raising awareness around breast cancer and money for breast cancer victims who are unable to afford reconstructive surgery.
Etana Insurance, one of Flow’s clients, is fully behind the event and will be bringing out a number of its daREDevils who, for the past few years, have been running the daREDevil Run in red Speedos in support of the fight against testicular cancer.
“We take fighting cancer very seriously. We love and celebrate women, both within our organisation and around the world. This incredible challenge is something we support wholeheartedly,” says Carel Nolte, head of people, brand and procurement at Etana. “The fact that it takes place in one of our ‘local is lekker’ branch regions also means we couldn’t say no and miss an opportunity to celebrate with the people of George.”
Blake Dyason, co-founder of the OutPlay movement – a group of active individuals into sport and doing good – says, “I’m really excited to have the daREDevil team joining me on this run. My goals in life are to inspire people to set bigger goals, try new things, do sport, appreciate Mother Nature and make a difference – this is the perfect event, and these are the perfect people.”
The Every Boob Counts route ascends Kaaimans Kloof, traverses the Outeniqua Mountains, takes in seven passes towards Buffalo Bay, and ends off with a 60km beach run back to Wilderness.

“We would also love it if people put on their most funky outfits and came down to Wilderness main beach on Saturday 26 January to cheer us home,” says Blake. “The after party will be taking place at Salina’s restaurant at approximately 3pm on Saturday.”
