The Journ-AIDS website was developed to host the work of journalists covering HIV/AIDS issues. It is maintained by Flow on behalf of the HIV/AIDS and the Media Project at the University of the Witwatersrand.
Journ-AIDS website’s fresh new look
The website was recently redesigned, mainly to streamline content. Flow’s recently appointed design studio manager Tina Brown explained the need for the redesign, saying, “The site had become a bit dated and due to constant uploading of new content, it was starting to look a little fragmented, so the hierarchy of content was significantly weakened.
“As the main users of the site are journalists, it needs to speak to them clearly so that they can find the information they need rapidly, without having to wade through information that is not relevant to them.”
Flowstars Lorraine Gumede and Stephen Frank were involved in the design and building of the fresh site, giving Journ-AIDS a clean, professional and hierarchically sound structure and look.
“It needed to look more like a news website – we wanted to feature news and make it more easily accessible, while strengthening the Journ-AIDS branding and working with their colour scheme,” said Gumede.
A few design elements were dropped in favour of a neat, easy to navigate page, still true to the Journ-AIDS colour palette and textures used in the previous website.
