Do you remember back in school when you used different colour Kokis to draw mind map after mind map about topics that ranged from the history of settlers in South Africa to the various parts of a plant?

Well, infographics are pretty much the same thing – only way cooler.

Users of media – be it print or online – have become very visual; they enjoy fewer words and more images when reading an article. In our fast-paced technological era, there’s not much time to read lengthy articles or reports. However, users still want all the information – but in fewer words.

Enter the infographic.

Infographics are a clever combination of data and visuals that tell a quick and informative story. They help simplify complicated and large amounts of data, and can make otherwise boring topics more interesting. 

The trick to any infographic is to include data that is interesting and relevant to your target audience (but don’t squeeze in as much data as you can for the sake of it). Also, make it as visually appealing as possible by using colour and images.
