Flow communications has created an online literary home for South Africa’s award-winning book journalist, Michelle Magwood. Former literary editor of the Sunday Times, Michelle Magwood’s new website Magwood on Books is a book lover’s best friend. The site was created not only to house Michelle’s book reviews and up-to-date picks of the latest books, but to attract readers.
Flow writer Laura Maggs, who was part of the project management team, says, “Magwood on Books is really about intelligent and convenient reviews, and ideas for book clubs and gifts. The site’s beautiful design makes you want to stay on it for hours but there’s also great content thanks to Michelle’s writing skill – she’s warm, personal, friendly and her reviews are a joy to read.
“The site was revamped to give Magwood on Books a stronger identity and to make it as user-friendly as possible.”
Magwood on Books also features a Book Salon section that is a partnership between Michelle Magwood and Camilla Twig. The Book Salon is a regular event when book lovers can meet, interact and discuss books with authors and industry experts.
“My goal for the site, from a programming point of view, was not only to make the site really acceptable and intuitive for the visitors, but easy to manage,” says Alex Cowling, programmer at Flow. “This ensures that the site is maintained and remains fresh for the visitors.”
