It’s not about the car you drive or the phone you own. Nor is it about your horn-rimmed specs or your craft beer knowledge. It’s not even about your state of mind, your confidence, or your natural swag and panache. As far as Flow is concerned, being cool comes down to one thing, and one thing alone: it’s about the pants you wear.
Over the past few months, there have been more and more Flowstars wandering around the offices in super-funky shweshwe pyjama pants. The pants are awesome in and of themselves – they range from red to orange to brown to blue to a perfect Flow pink, and they fit like a dream – but what makes them so much cooler is the fact that these pants save lives. Seriously. Life-saving pants. How cool is that?
The pants are part of an initiative called Goodbye Malaria, which is working towards the prevention and elimination of malaria, first in Mozambique and later on the rest of the African continent. Goodbye Malaria has been operating in partnership with the Ministry of Health in Mozambique since late 2013, when it began an indoor residual spray programme. To date, Goodbye Malaria has sprayed over 36,000 houses, protecting over 100,000 lives in the process. Take a look at this Flow blog to learn a little bit more.
To fund its efforts on the ground, Goodbye Malaria has been designing and manufacturing its super-funky shweshwe pyjama pants. Fifty per cent of every pair sold goes towards eradicating malaria.
The pants, which are locally designed and produced and can be worn all day every day, are available for sale on the Goodbye Malaria website. While you’re there, you can also pick up a Mashozi teddy bear, made with offcuts of the pants, and brightly coloured Goodbye Malaria bracelets.
The equation is simple. Goodbye Malaria pyjama pants + saving lives = super cool. Join the malaria movement now.
