Flow Communications

At Flow we love celebrating major milestones with clients – especially when they are part of the Flow family.

Spiral Aloe Medical Spa recently launched its collaboration with Life Retreat lifestyle shop and movement studio to complete their holistic Healing Hub at the picturesque Lourensford Wine Estate near Somerset West in the Cape winelands.

Not only did Flow design and develop Spiral Aloe’s website a few months ago, but the spa is also headed up by long-time Flow collaborator Dr Mothomang Diaho and former Flowstar Nthabiseng Shongwe. It also just so happens that this mother-daughter team are the wife and daughter of Flow’s chairman, Bheki Shongwe!

It all seems to run in the family, as another mother-daughter duo, Patricia and Samantha Taylor, have set up the Healing Hub collaboration with Mothomang and Nthabiseng. Patricia and Samantha run and own the Life Retreat, while Mothomang and Nthabiseng focus on Spiral Aloe Medical Spa. The Healing Hub is therefore equipped to take care of every aspect of wellness.

“We are focused on health and wellness and really just changing behaviours and attitudes towards a better lifestyle. Everyone wants to eat better, live better and be better. So we’re trying to integrate a practice here on how to do that,” explains Nthabiseng.

The Healing Hub comprises 35 healers, including a medical doctor, a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, an iridologist and various spa therapists who are based at Spiral Aloe, as well as yoga and lifestyle trainers at Life Retreat.

“What we offer is emotional as well as physical wellness. Your body will tell you what it needs. We just want this to be a place where people can break away, relax and enjoy the experience,” says Samantha.

The Healing Hub offers an integrated experience by working with other Lourensford attractions, including a coffee shop, art gallery, microbrewery and fine-dining restaurant. Nthabiseng and Samantha envision clients starting the day with yoga, before having breakfast at the café and moving on to a treatment at Spiral Aloe.

Daughters Samantha and Nthabiseng primarily run the Healing Hub, while mothers Mothomang and Patricia are involved in the growth and strategy of the businesses. As a medical doctor and owner of the original Spiral Aloe clinic in Dainfern, Johannesburg, Mothomang sees the collaboration enforcing the basics of healing. “My mother is 84 years old and has never spent a day in hospital. Somewhere she is doing something right and I want to know what that is,” says Mothomang.

Patricia echoes that sentiment. She sees the Healing Hub assisting in alternative healing and well-being. “I believe that finally we are in a space where people can come, whether it is for a day or an hour, and leave healed in some way.”

Along with Spiral Aloe Medical Spa and Life Retreat, we are excited to follow the Healing Hub’s growth over the next few months. If the launch was anything to go by, the future can only be beautiful – and we can’t wait to visit again.

Best of luck, Nthabiseng and Mothomang!
