If you’re looking for a fun family outing near Joburg and Pretoria, the Aerial Cableway Hartbeespoort is about to open.
Flow was recently tasked with creating an online home for the Harties Cableway and, as we designed and currently maintain the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway website, we were certainly up for the challenge.
Flowstar designer George Xafis says, “Taking photos of the soon-to-be-reopened cableway was one of the highlights of working on this website. Another was that the client had utmost faith in our skills.
“We responded with a site that is more than functional – it’s an extension of the cableway.”
Says Flow programmer Darren Caboz, “The design George did was awesome! [Fellow flowstars] Alex and Dimitri were really helpful! Alex has done a fantastic job with the site. It makes it feel as though you’re there. I can’t wait to get out to the Harties Cableway to see that view for real.”
The cableway was shut down a few years ago and recently came into new hands. Writer Laura Maggs, who was in charge of website content, says, “Seeing the old cable cars, sitting rusty and bent out of shape on the grass, in comparison to the newly installed cable cars soaring above, was a particularly exciting part of the project. I loved writing content for this website. I even got to ride to the top (twice). The experience was amazing – incredible views of the Magaliesberg and surrounds.”
After lots of hard work and wonderful visits to the cableway, the completion of the website was met with positive reviews. “The site is absolutely stunning. Thank you!” says Elmie Botha, head of marketing for Harties Cableway.
Alex Cowling, a Flow programmer who also worked on the website, was thrilled with the finished product.
“I enjoyed working on the Harties Cableway website because of its stunning design and the fact that it provides all the relevant information to a potential visitor, including a really nifty directions tool (due to the cableway’s somewhat secluded location). I will definitely be taking my family there as soon as it opens!”
The website boasts visitor information, interesting reads about the history of the area and its natural surrounds, blogs and lots more.
