Today we wish Tata Madiba a happy 94th birthday, from everyone at Flow.
July 18, Madiba’s birthday, has been declared Nelson Mandela International Day by the UN and represents a call to people everywhere to take action for the good of humankind.
At Flow, we try to live up to the ideal of making every day a Mandela Day. And having had the opportunity to be involved in Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory projects for many years, it is impossible for us not to be inspired.
Tiffany Turkington-Palmer, managing director of Flow Communications, says: “The Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory is one of Flow’s longest-standing clients. We have been working with them for over five years, and it has been an honour and a privilege to have and work with such a prestigious partner.”
The Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory, Mandela Day and 46664 websites are all online portals created by Flow that speak to Madiba’s legacy.
In honour of Madiba’s birthday, Flow ran a Mandela Day blood drive among employees and clients.
“Donating just 500ml of blood can change someone’s life,” said Flowstar Kate Rau, who works on the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory account. “As Madiba said, it’s in your hands. So we went ahead and identified a need within the community and tried to do something about it, together.”
On the digital side, Flow developed an online activity calendar for the Mandela Day website especially for Madiba’s 94th birthday. Via this online activity portal, anyone, anywhere can upload their Mandela Day event and become part of an international community striving to do good for humanity.
“The online calendar has seen over 400 registered activities for Mandela Day,” said Richard Frank, manager of the Flow programming studio. “The site is receiving record numbers of traffic as people across the globe share their Mandela Day vision and join together in wishing Tata a happy birthday.”
