For the second time this year, Flow has been part of bringing joy to the kids of Maloney’s Eye Primary School – and our hearts have once again swelled at the privilege.
Maloney’s Eye Primary School is a rural school situated about 12km from Flow client Maropeng, which supports the school as part of its official CSI programme. The school caters for a little over 300 children, who come from poverty-stricken communities in the area.
Earlier this year, to celebrate Mandela Day , Flow was part of a group of Maropeng partners who donated much-needed playground equipment to the school. This time, we had the opportunity with Maropeng and others to treat the children to some festive cheer.

“Maropeng and its partners have done brilliant things at Maloney’s Eye,” says Flow writing studio head Colin Ford. “Every time we visit, we’re reminded what a big difference we can make just by doing something small.”
Representatives from Southern Spoor Marketing, Maropeng, Big Time Liquors, Cathy Findlay PR, the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site Authority, St Peter’s School, Spar, and Andrew Staedler and Rob Jackson of Dads for Charity, were at the school on 3 December to do their bit in putting smiles on the children’s faces, at a special year-end party with all the trimmings.
The school courtyard was filled with laughter as the children enjoyed their goodies, which included hot dogs and fizzy drinks, popcorn, sweetie packs and jumping castles.
“For all of them it was a day to receive, a day to eat and laugh. A day unlike the rest,” says Flow media developer Kate Rau. “All of them were grateful for what they received.”
Flow’s contribution will also go towards establishing a food garden for the school, since many of the kids don’t get enough to eat at home.
