Flow’s three-year contract with South Africa Tourism (SAT) got off to an exciting start during July, with two training sessions hosted by SAT content editor Kay Robertson.
The first, a general training session for SAT’s content custodians and sub-editors, was held at the Radisson Blu hotel in Sandton, when an overview of the site and presentation on SAT’s forward planning were followed by content development training.
“We’re compiling an improved SAT styleguide at the moment to ensure that all content is of a consistently high standard,” says Flow CEO Tara Turkington, who is one of the sub-editors working on the site.
During a second training session devoted exclusively to Flow, Robertson focused on the functionality of SAT’s Cambrient Contentsuite, a South African-built content management system (CMS). Flow writers are more conversant with the ExpressionEngine CMS, with which Flow websites are built.
Despite being interrupted by and bombarded with an assortment of questions from a trio of enthusiastic Flow writers, Kay managed to field every query with composure and completed her agenda on time.
A hands-on upload session back at the Flow office put Kay’s SAT training into practice.
The Cambrient CMS used by Flow’s tourism client requires a fair amount of attention to field input on the back end, but a few hours of intensive focus soon had the system operating smoothly.
“We’re thrilled to have successfully uploaded our first stories to SAT’s back end,” said Kate Turkington and Christine Marot, following their training session with Kay.
Along with their Cape Town-based colleague Roy Barford, these Flow writers will be developing content for the SAT site over the next three years.
