Flowstar Ros Caboz attended the 2012 Markex World of Events Expo at the Sandton Convention Centre from 12 to 14 June, and chatted to me about her experience.

This year marks the 26th year of Markex, which each year sees about 2 000 people walk in through its doors, daily. In 2010 and 2011 it was visited by more than 10 000 buyers.

“Being in production, it is always good for me to see what is out there, and at Markex all the suppliers I use are under one roof,” says Ros.

The expo brings together, among others, buyers and sellers of corporate clothing and promotional gifts, conference and exhibition venues and solutions, design and décor solutions, as well as event planners and management.

Ros says, “I have been to Markex a few times before and it can be crowded, but I’m somewhat of an expert in getting around the venue. I had my trolley bag and went to all the relevant stands collecting the latest catalogues. At one point the wheel fell off because of the weight.”

When working in an industry that requires you to constantly search for new ideas, Ros believes it is important to attend Markex as it provides a world of innovative ways to better reach your consumer.

“It is important to attend these exhibitions given the work we do, as it keeps us abreast of the latest trends,” says Ros.
