As a leading digital communications company, it’s only right that Flow’s website reflects the work we do, the kind of modern design we strive for, and is useful and easy to navigate. We recently whipped out a digital can of paint and gave flowsa.com a brand-new look and feel.
Here's how Flowstar Ryan Levenson describes the design motivation behind the new-look website: "We wanted to get the vibe of the company across with the look and feel, so we had a lot of people involved and we really had a lot of fun with it! We are really happy with how it turned out, it really shows off what Flow is all about."
For Darren Caboz, the lead programmer on the project, the upgrade was much needed.
"The web environment is constantly changing at such a rapid pace, that a site built two or three years ago is already seen as 'old'," he says.
"Upgrading the site enabled us to integrate new features and tools both on the front and back end. This will allow users and admins of the site to navigate more easily and faster than before."
Darren also says that these changes are compatible with further upgrades in the future.
"The upgrade will make it easier going forward to implement a fully responsive website (mobile, tablet and desktop-responsive) at a later stage."
Updating the site's content management system, Expression Engine, gives developers access to the latest tools and techniques found across the web – and it also makes the content team's job easier (Editor – yes it does. Thanks, Darren!)
Flow CEO Tara Turkington says: "We keep the blog updated with a balance of industry issues and news across the spheres of web development, social media, graphic design, public relations, content and exhibitions development, among other areas. There’s also usually loads of stuff about what we as Flow get up to – from the work we do to the crazy fun we have while doing it.
"We also hope to get some of our clients to contribute guest posts in the future, so if you’re keen, please give us a shout."
