Flowstars have looked back on another year the best way they know how: by having #FlowFun.

Last Friday saw the Flow end-of-year bash take place at the Higher Ground Restaurant at St Stithians College in Randburg, which has one of the best views in Johannesburg.

"We chose the venue of Higher Ground at St Stithians because St Stithians is a client and we wanted to support them. Plus, we knew the view, the food and the venue would be perfect," says Flow CEO Tara Turkington.

Of course, when we do year-end parties, we go all out, proudly showing off our favourite colour, pink, and having as much fun as possible.

The afternoon started off with a lot of activity, from group selfies and quizzes to some lip-synching and dancing. In the evening, we had a prizegiving, followed by dinner and dancing.

Organisers Janet Berger and Maria Foundanellas are thrilled Flowstars had such fun.

"Standout moments for me were to see how people just mingled across the board; the tables were really mixed and every time you looked around, people were talking to someone different," Janet says.

"So many people at the venue came and asked who we were and seemed to be entranced by our brightness, vibe, noise levels and enthusiasm, which I take as being really positive."

Says Flow MD Tiffany Turkington-Palmer about the party: "It was lovely to have the Flow family together."

Writer Thrishni Subramoney celebrated her first Flow staff party, and she is amazed at the talents some Flowstars possess.

"It was a wonderful blaze of pink. I knew I was working with a talented bunch of people, but I didn't know that this extended to jaw-dropping hat-decorating skills and the theatrical arts," she says.

Winners of the best-decorated hardhats were writer Roela Hattingh and project manager Gianluca Tucci.

Gianluca’s inspiration came from "celebrating summer, festivities, transcending boundaries and Flow", while Roelah’s hat was all about "a pink doll living in a lush, lotus flower garden".

Says Tara: "We had almost as much fun planning the party as at the actual party itself. I loved the awards part of the evening, especially, and to see the reaction from the Flowstars when we announced the winners from each team.

"Those prizes were the most special by far, because they'd been voted for by people's peers.

"But the real stars of #FlowFun 2014 were Maria and Janet, who organised everything, from the food and drinks to the number plates we gave out as awards, so huge thanks to them. They are amazing and have already been booked for next year's event," she says.
