On 22 July 2013, industrial giant Sasol hosted a number of its top marketing service providers at an exclusive expo for accredited suppliers held at its offices in Rosebank, Johannesburg – and Flow was one of them!
The Sasol Corporate Marketing Agency Day brought 13 of Sasol’s top PR, advertising, media, corporate gifts and AV agencies together to showcase their talents and share the work they’ve done for the organisation. The event also allowed the service providers to engage and network with the Sasol marketing team, who used the opportunity to re-iterate their brand image while everyone was together.
“Sasol is one of Flow’s top clients, and it was an honour to have been invited to participate in the expo,” says Flow MD Tiffany Turkington. “The work we do is varied: We started off doing a safety campaign for Sasol Gas and have since done work for Sasol Mining and Sasol Corporate, including content, design and print.”
Flow Exhibitions CEO Janet Berger, who was one of the Flow representatives at the expo, says it was great to spend time with Sasol and to find out more about the brand. “The event also gave us a platform to share our products and services with people in Sasol whom we might otherwise not have had the chance to meet,” she says.
Flow project manager Ros Caboz agrees.
“It was hugely beneficial to present ourselves to the various Sasol business units,” she says. “Large organisations such as Sasol often pigeon-hole their service providers. You tend to get ‘stuck’ assisting the same people with the same things all the time. The agency day was the perfect opportunity for us to discuss the other business facets of Flow as a holistic communications company.”
In true Flow style, our stall was innovative and creative. On display, for example, were Flow pink hardhats, representing the variety of different skills that we are able to offer our clients.
Thabs Royds, another Flowstar who attended the event, says it was mutually beneficial to both Sasol and its suppliers. “It was a nice way to bring in new business from Sasol because it is such a large organisation,” she says.
“The resounding message of the brand strategy presentation, prior to the show and tell, was that Sasol wanted one consistent brand image,” she adds. “We have a developed a very clear understanding of what’s needed and have committed to helping Sasol achieve it.”
