One of Flow’s recent projects has been the production of the HIV/AIDS and the Media Project discussion forum’s booklet, How healthy is our news? The state of health reporting in South Africa.
The HIV/AIDS and the Media Project’s main focus at its eighth discussion forum, held at the Wits Origins Centre on October 22, 2009, was to look into the role and impact of the news media on the HIV pandemic.
The book is a full-colour document, designed using the Project’s corporate colours. The cover is a collage of images representing the media, finished off with minimal images, fine text and white spaces for an attractive, easy read.
The book is a synopsis of the proceedings from the group discussion between journalists on their approach to reporting on HIV/AIDS. The discussion also focused on the current state of health reporting in South Africa and provided health journalists with the latest research information, comparing the quantity of HIV reporting between 2003 and 2008. The forum was chaired by Sue Valentine and the discussion was opened by Anova Health Institute’s Dr Sindi van Zyl.
Flow was humbled to be approached by the organisation to produce this vital publication. As a company that practises journalism, Flow recognises that the HIV/AIDS and the Media Project is an essential initiative.
Tara Turkington, Flow CEO, said of the project: “It’s great to be working with one of our oldest clients again.”
