Flow Public Relations (Flow PR) welcomes yet another member to its team, Nicole Walters. Nicole Walters or ‘Nix’ for short, joins Flow PR as an account manager.
Nix is a reserved yet warm and friendly person who knows what she wants and how to get it and Flow PR is excited to have her on board.
She’s also no stranger to the world of work, having supported herself as a salesperson, childcare worker and face painter since high school.
After matriculating, she enrolled for a BA Degree in Corporate Communications at the University of Johannesburg. In 2007, she joined First National Bank (FNB) where she worked as a bonds and settlement specialists for almost two years.
In 2010, Nix went to Minnesota in the United States to study at Bethel University where she also became a lecturer’s assistant to exercise her motto in life which is “learn so that you can teach”. She returned to South Africa shortly after graduating with an MA in Communications in 2011.
Before joining Flow PR she worked at On Point PR in their social media department, with Star Schools as an operations administrator and Rand Merchant Bank/FNB as a client service specialist.
“The people at Flow have been amazingly friendly and receptive right from the first time I came for an interview and they have kept it up,” says Nix, with a giggle.
“I love the pink and black corporate colours which reflect what a fun company Flow is to work for.”
In her spare time, Nix is a mentor with Dream Girls International Outreach, an NGO that coaches and mentors previously disadvantaged young girls in areas such as life design, education, entrepreneurship and careers, health and spiritual wellness as well as etiquette, grooming and dignity.
“I had volunteered and applied to serve as a mentor and then later was selected to serve on the national committee board. This role included many opportunities, the biggest being assigned a personal mentor,” says Nix.
It so happens that Nix ended up being mentored by Flow PR client, Portia Moyo from Mindcor.
“We connected instantly,” says Nix, “Her infectious laugh can light up the dullest of places and you know when she has arrived. Ours is one of my most cherished relationships. She has guided and supported me in every area of my life. I have the greatest of respect for her and value her as a teacher, mother and best friend.”
Says Caroline Smith, account director at Flow PR, “The speed with which our team is growing is phenomenal and Nix is going to fit right in. Already we can’t do without her.”
