No one is more proud to have their alma mater as a client than Flow CEO Tara Turkington and MD Tiffany Turkington-Palmer, who both happen to be St Mary’s old girls.
Flow’s association with St Mary’s dates back to 2007, when we took on the design, layout and editing of the school’s junior and senior newsletters. The newsletter work was well received and led to the design, layout, editing and printing of the school’s annual magazine.
Since then, the scope of our work with St Mary’s has grown to include the school’s annual Distinctions magazine, design and printing for the St Mary’s Foundation and the design, layout, editing and printing of a recipe book in 2012.
In 2013 Flow took on its most prestigious St Mary’s project to date, the design, editing, partial content development and printing of the school’s 125th anniversary coffee table book.
Reflecting on Flow’s working relationship with the school, project manager Roshni Nana says: “St Mary’s School was one of my first clients when I joined Flow, at a time when we were delivering weekly newsletter designs and an annual magazine.
“Since then we have worked on a number of other projects with St Mary’s, including social media training for parents and teachers, a fabulous recipe book initiated by the girls, and preparing collateral for the newly formed St Mary’s Foundation in 2011.
“Working on a book to celebrate the school’s 125th anniversary has been a privilege for the Flow team, who have worked tirelessly to compile a book that promises to become a sought-after publication.”
Flow editor Christine Marot reinforces Roshni’s sentiments.
“Being asked to interview past and present St Mary’s teachers, pupils and associates was an unexpected honour, and one that I embraced with great anticipation.
“During the many hours spent with generations of St Mary’s personalities, aged 18 to 81, I have been humbled and awed by the incredible sense of loyalty and dedication each expressed towards their school.
“It’s quite astounding when one considers that the ethos of a school founded in 1888 is as strong today as it was in the days of the dedicated nuns from Wantage in the UK.
“A perennial theme that emerged during the interviews is St Mary’s determination to encourage every pupil to become the absolute best they can be within their own sphere of excellence, be it sport, academics, culture, art or music.”
Founded in 1888 by the Anglican Church, St Mary’s, Waverley is an independent private boarding establishment and the oldest school in Johannesburg.
