There were cheers all round when the new website for the Ministry for Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities (DWCPD), designed and developed by Flow, went live on Friday morning, August 6, just in time for Women’s Day on August 9.
The Ministry for Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities (DWCPD) is a new ministry within the Presidency, created in May 2009, and is responsible for ensuring equity and access to development opportunities for vulnerable groups within South African society.
Reflecting on the DWCPD brief, Flow Project Manager Roshni Nana, said: “This particular website was interesting to work on as we had to accommodate the ministry as a whole, as well as its three branches: women, children, and persons with disabilities. I think we managed to achieve this quite well.
“After viewing the DWCPD test site, the client only made minor changes, meaning we could launch the site right on time,” continued Roshni.
Head of Communication of the Ministry for Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities, Sibani Mngadi, says, “The enthusiasm with which the Flow Communications team took up this project was great. It enabled us to meet the tight deadline of going online before the most important day in our department’s calendar, National Women’s Day.”
Mngadi adds that a webmaster from a sister department commented that Flow’s project was “a job well done”, and described the new website as “great, clean and user-friendly”.
DWCPD Minister Noluthando Mayende-Sibiya made a call to action earlier this year “to make 2010 a year of action for women, children and persons with disabilities”.
