As part of an exciting new portfolio of work for South African Tourism (SAT), Flow recently launched a new blog for South African Tourism, blog.southafrica.net – a platform for some of the country’s best travel writers to share their experiences and reflections on South Africa.

The blog features a variety of material covering topics such as “Responsible Tourism”, “Culture & History”, “Arts & Entertainment”, “Routes & Trails”, “Health & Wellness”, “Sport” and “Wildlife”.
The blog also showcases South Africa’s top attractions, from the world-renowned Kruger National Park and whale-watching in Hermanus, to the Table Mountain Cableway and the vibrant wild flowers of Namaqualand in the spring. Visitors to the blog are sure to be enthralled by each read, all unique portrayals of some of South Africa’s best offerings.
The blog’s authors include award-winning travel writers Julienne du Toit, Chris Marais and Kate Turkington, along with several others. Flow’s Cape Town manager, Roy Barford, a travel, sport and adventure enthusiast, is also a contributor.
The blog also features an image gallery and video gallery, as well as integration with popular social media platforms, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and YouTube.
Says Flow web developer, Reatile Tshikalange, who worked on the blog, “[I] love this country. It was an honour to work on the blog for the greatest country, on the greatest continent (from the greatest city, Joburg).”
Says Flow designer, Lorraine Gumede, who did a beautiful job of designing the blog, “I was very fortunate to work on such an exciting brand as SAT. Combining five blogs into one wasn’t easy, but I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.”
So far, there has been a fantastic response to the blog, with SAT fans on Twitter expressing some great feedback.
Claudia Stiatti (Keyodhoo), for example, tweeted, “@PLUSafaris @GoToSouthAfrica Your blog is perfect! I’m going to read everything to be prepared for the #Safari!”
Says SAT e-marketing content editor, Kate Els, “South African Tourism previously had five separate blogs that focused on different aspects of the tourism industry. While all of these were great blogs, it made sense to bring all of that content onto one platform that would be easier to promote to tourists interested in the destination through our various online and social media platforms.
“We’ve managed to incorporate all of the content from the previous blogs, and have developed a blog that will enhance our online offering as a destination marketing organisation. The inclusion of photo galleries and video will create a richer user experience in future.”
