With the rising temperatures, some at Flow were beginning to feel the heat. So there was joy all round when an ice cream van visited our Jo’burg offices on Thursday 22 November.
Squeals of delight echoed around the building as news quickly spread that cool treats were waiting outside ... more so when it was discovered that the treats were on Flow.
For some it brought back fond memories: “The last time I had soft serve from an ice cream truck was in primary school, so this is really nice,” said Flow PR’s Caroline Smith.
For others it was a first-time experience.
“What a treat! I’ve never actually had an old-school ice cream from an ice cream truck before (how sad?), so I’ll always remember that my first was at Flow,” said writer Laura Maggs. “I also saw snow for the first time here at Flow! Must be a special place. Thank you, Flow, for sweetening up my day!”
Chief, owner of the ice cream van, said he’s had his truck for about eight years, and never tires of seeing the happy faces that come looking for ice cream.
And, of course, he did some brisk business under the summer sun.
“I think this is the most ice cream I’ve ever sold in any one place,” he joked, as Flow employees massed around his vehicle.
We’re sure he’ll back.
