Flow Communications

Maropeng is one of Flow’s oldest and most beloved clients.

Developing and maintaining the website for the visitor centre, which welcomes people to the Cradle of Humankind, has been a great challenge, but also an opportunity that has led to many new innovative projects.

One of the new projects Flow has developed for Maropeng is their online shop. This E-commerce functionality allows people to book online for the great events, that Maropeng runs on the weekends. These include the monthly stargazing dinner and presentation, the Swartkrans walking tour and the Cooper’s Cave picnic.

As part of producing content for the Maropeng site, Flow writestars often get to cover events and I recently attended the Cooper’s Cave picnic and walking tour with palaeoanthropologist Christine Steininger.

This experience involves exploring Cooper’s Cave, learning how to make stone tools, exploring a fossil site and an interactive talk on human evolution.  Spending a fun and educational morning with Christine at Cooper’s has opened my eyes to what a rich fossil heritage South Africa has. Only an hour from Johannesburg and Pretoria, Maropeng is the perfect place where you can enjoy the outdoors and learn about the origins of humankind. I can’t wait to go back!
