TEACH South Africa is a non-profit organisation that aims to address some of the challenges faced by the education sector in South Africa, recruiting recent graduates from a range of disciplines and deploying them to disadvantaged schools in rural areas. The graduates, known as TEACH Ambassadors, stay in these schools for a minimum of two years, teaching subjects like mathematics, English, science and technology.
TEACH South Africa is one of Flow’s education-related clients. We designed and developed their website, and often have a hand in the stories that feature there. More recently, we designed an informative booklet, profiling the work of TEACH South Africa and its vision for the future.
Within the booklet’s pages, 25 TEACH Ambassadors, selected out of a pool of 500 applicants, share their experiences and thoughts on the work they’ve done. What is to be found there is both thought-provoking and inspiring.
TEACH Ambassador Alouis Matekenya is quoted as saying, “I have developed a serious commitment and passion for teaching. Whatever I do I am determined to shape the next generation. Being a TEACH Ambassador has given me a vision.”
Phumuzile Ndlovu, another of the ambassadors, is proud to be called a teacher: “The whole vision of TEACH South Africa, which is improving the lives of disadvantaged learners, resonates with me. This organisation gave me the chance to realise my dreams and make a difference in the lives of marginalised children.”
Neo Male, one of Flow’s graphic designers, worked on the booklet. “The client was instrumental in making the job go smoothly,” Neo says, “I worked closely with Marketing Manager Tim Isabirye who ensured the book was perfect before going to print. It was a great privilege working on a project that makes such a huge difference in South Africa.”
