Maropeng and Gauteng Tourism, two of our Gauteng-based clients, recently exhibited at Meetings Africa, which was held at the Sandton Convention Centre from 21 to 23 February 2011.
This event provided an opportunity for tourism organisations to network and build new business partnerships with various stakeholders.
The Maropeng exhibition stand was a real hit with visitors because Harry the Hominid, Maropeng’s mascot model, made a special appearance. Local and international visitors all wanted a photo taken with Harry and this experience supported the uniqueness of the Maropeng brand.
Erica Jago, general manager of Maropeng, believes that the success of their activities at Meetings Africa is due to Maropeng being a one-of-a-kind attraction. “When people talk to us, they keep saying that they are looking for something different and with our weekend events such as Stargazing and Cooper’s Cave, this is just what we offer – a unique experience in Gauteng.”
Pearl Mohapi from Gauteng Tourism was manning Maropeng’s exhibition stand and says that they were booked out with meetings from day one. “I enjoyed meeting each and every person there. The number of business tourism products available was astounding. I had a chat with a gentleman who represented eco-friendly fly-fishing! How interesting is that?” says Pearl.
Gauteng Tourism won the award for the second-best stand at Meetings Africa and at Flow, we are proud to have such outstanding clients.
