Casual Day has become an important date on the calendar for socially aware South Africans, with many adopting it as an annual corporate social investment initiative and large organisations running sticker sales to employees. Behind the scenes, the preparation and build-up for this year's Casual Day have already begun.

In celebration of the success of last year’s Casual Day, the NCPD recently hosted show-and-tell events in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and Cape Town to honour and recognise participants for their fundraising efforts in 2016, and to update non-governmental and faith-based organisations, companies and government departments about the 2017 campaign.

Last year’s initiative raised more than R27-million through Casual Day stickers and merchandise.

The theme for Casual Day 2017 was also revealed – "Celebrate diversity with persons with disabilities", which reflects the NCPD’s goal that South Africans must insist on an inclusive society that allows everyone equal opportunities.

Explaining the theme further at the Gauteng show-and-tell breakfast function held at Carnival City, NCPD chairperson Mac Mia said: “The preamble of South Africa’s Constitution states that we are united in our diversity. Let’s make this true and let’s unite in an effort to put a record number of stickers and golf shirts out there, so that we can get the largest number of people ever to celebrate with us.”

Flow Communications worked with the NCPD to workshop the new theme and messaging for Casual Day 2017, as well as the content for the invitations to the show-and-tell events, which we distributed to the media. We also provided PR services for the events.

The NCPD is a non-profit organisation that has championed the cause of persons with disabilities for the past 77 years.

As we move into the next phase of planning for Casual Day 2017, Flow’s PR studio is gearing up and brimming with excitement about delivering exceptional communications services for a bigger and better Casual Day campaign. The goal is to raise at least R30-million through the 2017 campaign, culminating in the main event on 1 September 2017.
