Flow Communications has been shortlisted 22 times for the 2019 New Generation Social and Digital Media Awards – for more clients than any other nominated agency.
The New Generation Social and Digital Media Awards are among the most prestigious digital media awards in South Africa, and recognise creative agency teams for their innovative use of social and digital media. Many of South Africa’s most respected agencies enter the awards.
The awards also include corporate companies and their in-house marketing teams for their work on campaigns that help promote their organisations and brands in groundbreaking ways.
Between 2014 and 2018 Flow garnered no fewer than 36 New Generation Awards for a wide array of clients. Our highest awards tally – 10 – came in 2017, when we were also shortlisted 22 times.
“We’re over the moon to have been shortlisted for so many awards, and that in 16 categories,” says Flow managing director Tiffany Turkington-Palmer. “The New Generation Awards are growing in size and standard every year, with more agencies entering more clients in more categories, so to be given the nod so many times is very exciting.”
No fewer than 10 of Flow’s clients have been named as finalists: the Road Accident Fund (six categories), Wits Business School (three), the Gauteng Tourism Authority (two), the Nelson Mandela Foundation (two), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (two), the Gautrain Management Agency (one), the South African Society of Anaesthesiologists (one), the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (one), Constitution Hill (one) and 21st Century (one).

In addition, Flow has been shortlisted for the Medium to Large Agency of the Year Award, and Flow CEO Tara Turkington is the only nominee for the New Generation Best Individual Influencer Marketer Award.

“While we haven’t previously won the most New Generation Awards in a single year – although we’ve come close – we routinely win for more clients than any other agency.
“That we’re nominated for more clients than any other agency this year once again underlines the fact that we produce excellent work across our client base, and across industries. This ranges from content creation to web design, from app development to online and social media campaigns, and from public relations to marketing,” says Turkington-Palmer.
But, she says, the competition is tough and Flow is up against some of our country’s most accomplished agencies.
“We know that we’re competing against several industry heavyweights, but this is the thing: we don’t do first-class work to win awards. We do it to further and grow our clients.
“To be even nominated for these awards, and be in such august company, is to be validated for the great work we know we do. Winning awards is always a bonus for us,” says Turkington-Palmer.
