Flow Communications has appointed four new leaders, with effect from 1 September 2021.

Three of the four internal promotions are new roles – Richard Frank has been appointed chief technology officer (CTO), Kimisha Rajcoomar head of events and Nadia Moore head of marketing, while Ryan Thom takes over as head of digital from Richard.

Flow has transformed the challenges thrown up by Covid-19 and the subsequent lockdowns into opportunities and is now solidly set on a growth trajectory. Its move to being a fully remote company prompted it to appoint Richard as CTO to help steer the company’s vision.

“We’ve always been digitally led, but the pandemic has certainly accelerated our use of technology for both ourselves and our clients,” he says.

“We know that we need to keep at the cutting edge when it comes to our use of technology in our internal and external operations, and we know that we need to continue to work on ways to keep our staff engaged, connected, working efficiently and delivering great results for our clients, in a remote setting.”

Richard will be replaced as head of digital by Ryan, who has more than 20 years’ business experience, including 10 at board level, and holds a degree in Information Systems from the University of Cape Town.

“I’m looking forward to laying down procedural and technical foundations that will help the development team scale in line with the growth ambitions of the wider company. A key focus of this role will be expanding our digital offering into frontier technologies,” says Ryan.

Events are a focus area for Flow, with the Covid-initiated uptake in virtual events dramatically increasing the number of eyeballs an organisation or brand can attract. As head of events, Kim will be responsible for the overall events portfolio at Flow and will lead a team dedicated to ensuring the delivery of innovative virtual, hybrid and physical events.

She has a BCom honours degree in Marketing Management, and brings to the table years of multifaceted marketing experience across an array of environments, from corporate to B2B, B2C and agencies.

“I have a passion for digital marketing and integrating tactics into customer touchpoints such as events. My role will entail client liaison and the coordination of technical, creative and content teams to provide clients with customised solutions tailored to their needs. I look forward to building this multitalented team and enabling clients with the latest trends and technologies within a fast-paced, ever-growing industry,” she says.

Marketing lies at the heart of Flow’s business and it understands the need to create awareness of its evolving positioning among its target audiences. This will be key to Nadia’s role as head of marketing, which includes growing the Flow brand, both internally and externally. She has been with Flow for almost two years, holds a Bachelor of Journalism and Media Studies degree from Rhodes University, and has experience in radio, print and online media communications.

“I’m looking forward to developing and implementing Flow’s marketing strategy and taking the reins of our awards entries. We have a hard-working team that excels time and again, and I’m honoured to be part of this amazing group of people and be able to share our skills with clients, locally and internationally. I’m passionate about keeping ahead of new trends, especially in the remote working space, as we grow the Flow brand,” says Nadia.
