You’ve done it again!
On Friday 22 August 2014, Flow hosted another successful blood drive, and you came out in your numbers to donate.
We can’t thank you enough.
South African National Blood Service (SANBS) chief executive officer Dr Loyiso Mpuntsha said in the most recent edition of the SANBS magazine, Blood Beat: “Now that we are well into winter, we know this is also a period when we have difficulty meeting the blood-collection quota.”
So every drop counts.
According to SANBS donor care officer Tony Sekonyela, who helped facilitate the blood drive at Flow, this why you need to be a blood drive hero: “You should look at giving blood in a positive manner; you give blood to save lives.”
Which is just what entrepreneur, Lead SA executive and Miss Earth South Africa executive director Catherine Constantinides did.
Catherine joined the Flow blood drive after much engagement on social media.
“I don’t like needles, but I’m young, healthy and strong,” she said. “The need to save a life outweighs my fear of needles.”
Said Miss Earth South Africa office administrator Boitumelo Moremi: “As much as you might be scared or traumatised at the thought and sight of having a needle inserted in your vein, someone is fighting for their life.”
