When Flow PR account director Caroline Smith sent out an email that one of its clients, Federal-Mogul – which specialises in automotive parts – was giving away tickets to the Wesbank Super Series, Flowstars couldn’t wait to get their hands on them.
Six Flowstars – Benedict Siyotula, George Xafis, Mildred Thabane, Tshililo Ragimana, Zintle Mtyeku and Caroline – were lucky enough to attend the day at Zwartkops Raceway, where they smelled burning rubber, watched cars race around the track at speeds of over 200km/h, and cheered excessively for Team Ferodo, sponsored by Federal-Mogul.
George, who was in charge of taking photos for Flow on the day, said: “It was educational and fun. I learned so much about high-performance racing and got to meet the drivers. Thanks, Flow PR, for such a valuable experience.”
Said Caroline, “It was a great day – the Flowstars all worked and played hard, and we would like to thank our fabulous client, Federal-Mogul, for the opportunity.”
“Saturday was amazing,” said Flow writer Benedict. “I love cars, so watching the GTI, Subaru and Audi S4 battle it out at speeds of over 240km/h blew my mind! A big thank you to Federal-Mogul for hosting us.”
Kelvin van der Linde, sponsored by Federal-Mogul, continued his winning ways in the VW Cup in his Ferodo VW Polo Vivo.
Federal-Mogul’s Ronnie Erasmus was enthusiastic about the day: “The turnout was great and the team performed really well with what they had. A lot of work still needs to be done on the Formula FVW, but the VW Polo is doing really well.”
