Flow Communications

Shoni always took his work and clients very seriously – but not always himself

The ebbs and flows of our personal and professional lives are always unpredictable, sometimes a little sad and very often exciting. The Flow team, particularly the PR team, has recently experienced all of these things.

It is with great sadness that Flow announces the departure of Shoni Makhari, the CEO of Flow PR, who has chosen to pursue other corporate ventures. Shoni started Flow PR in November 2010 with a single colleague and a single client. Since then, the team has grown to include eight enthusiastic and committed individuals, and the client base to over 25 companies across a wide variety of industries.

“Shoni has been an incredible business partner, colleague and friend, and has helped build the PR team, and the greater Flow Group, into a healthy, sustainable and successful company,” says Tara Turkington, CEO of Flow Communications. “We will miss him dearly and will remain strong friends with him for a very long time to come.”

Caroline Smith, who joined Flow PR in September 2011 and has a wealth of experience in the marketing and public relations space, has been appointed as the head of Flow PR.

Putting on her hard hat: Caroline Smith is the new head of Flow's PR team

Says Tiffany Turkington-Palmer, Flow’s managing director: “Caroline has excellent leadership qualities and we look forward to her joining our management team and growing our company into an even stronger place to work. We have full confidence that Caroline is stepping in to lead a brilliant group of people who have in themselves established a successful platform from which to grow and shine.”

Adds Flow’s chairman, Bheki Shongwe: “Shoni has played an invaluable role in our company and team. Shoni has been a quality player and we have been honoured to have him in our team. He may not play on our team in future matches, but we know he is there on the reserve bench with us. We are not saying goodbye, only as they say in the United States, ‘Later!’.”

Shoni, thank you – for everything. Your drive and joyful demeanour will be missed, and we wish you everything of the best. And congratulations, Caroline. We look forward to the creative energy and zest with which you will steer your team.
