Ever at the cutting edge of all things daring and spectacular, Etana Insurance will host the third annual daREDevil Run on 4 November. This year’s run will see hordes of Speedo-clad men running through the streets of Joburg, Durban and Cape Town in peak hour traffic, all in the name of testicular and prostate cancer.
Flow Communications helped to launch the revamped Etana website in January 2010 and has since provided South Africa’s largest business insurer with ongoing maintenance and design updates.
“We are proud of our pro bono contribution on an annual basis to the development of the daREDevil Run website, and we hope to remain involved for many years to come,” says Flow MD Tiffany Turkington-Palmer. “It’s an honour for Flow to be involved with Etana in a project that supports such a good cause.”
The 2011 daREDevil Run site incorporates run registration and payment functionality, a photo gallery, social network integration and a competition entry facility. Crazy and daring competition entries are submitted daily, and keep the buzz going leading up to the race.
“I would like to extend my thanks and gratitude to the Flow team, who with Etana ensure the daREDevil Run site is exceptional,” says Etana marketer Kurt Solomon. “Any requests – whether small errors or changes to enhance the look and feel – are given priority by Flow.
“The maintenance and editing they do takes a lot of pressure off my shoulders as I have peace of mind that the Flow team has the ability to carry out a professional and efficient service.”
Last year Flow sent a delegation of eight men and women to participate in and support the 2010 daREDevil Run. Flow receptionist John Kazembe was one of the Flowstars who took part.
“It was my first experience in the Speedo run,” he says. “It was great fun to interact with people from various companies. I learnt how to involve myself in helping others and I will definitely run again this year.”
Flow is building up a solid team for this year’s run, which for the first time will be held in Durban and Cape Town.
Flow Durban editor Christine Marot says, “I’m really excited that the daREDevil Run has extended its reach to Durban this year. Speedo-clad hotties are guaranteed to brighten up the suburbs and bring traffic to a screeching halt.”
In the interests of saving the locals from the terrifying sight of a tannie in a red cozzie, Christine says she will participate as a supporter on 4 November.
“I’ll be shouting encouragement from the sidelines… Go Etana Durbs!”
Always eager to get the last word in, Flow CEO Tara Turkington adds, “We salute those men who have more balls than most.”
