A corporate blog is a more efficient and cost-effective method of communicating with internal and external stakeholders, as well as reminding people of who you are as a company.

According to Flow CEO Tara Turkington, there are several reasons why companies should have their own blog:

Firstly, by using a blog, companies are able to communicate to a large number of individuals – both internal and external – while still keeping their communication personal.

Secondly, clients and employees alike like to be kept up to date on what a company is doing, upcoming events, and any changes within the company that affect internal and external stakeholders in any way.

Thirdly, having a blog for your company helps build commitment and buy-in from clients.
One of the clients for which Flow manages a site, Maropeng, showcases staff achievements and compliments them on their hard work, which helps keep staff motivated to do better and which, in turn, results in happy customers.

And finally, tech-savvy companies realise the importance of an online presence such as a blog to their bottom line and reputation – and keeping it current. Search engines such as Google reward fresh content, and having a blog that is constantly up to date gives a company a higher ranking on searches.

“Corporate blogs give existing and potential customers the opportunity to interact with and get to know your brand. An effective corporate blog is able to connect with the target audience’s interests and needs, as well as address any concerns they might have. They have proven to be beneficial for many companies,” quips Tara.
