Friday June 27 will see the staff at Flow wave a sorry goodbye to journalist Jackie Bischof, as she leaves for Columbia University, New York.
Jackie has worked at Flow as a journalist and researcher for the past seven months and is going to Columbia University in July to study her Masters in Journalism, specialising in magazine writing. Jackie says: “I chose Columbia because it is one of the best journalism universities in the world and will hopefully give me a leg up in the industry. Also, I’ve always wanted to live in New York!”
Jackie joined Flow after meeting Tara Turkington, who was her Online Journalism lecturer at Wits University. While Jackie has worked at Flow, she has worked on several projects, including content management and story writing for the British Council, First National Bank, Clico Guesthouse and other clients.
Jackie is a very valued member of staff at Flow who has made animpression on everyone during her stay. Tara says, “It’s hard to express what a wonderful employee she’s been. She has a great attitude to everything and is one of the most productive, hard-working people Ihave ever met. She has a can-do attitude and is a pleasure to workwith. She is always the first person to offer to do something, and isalways willing. I really hope she comes back!”
Journalist Kate Thompson says: “I’m really going to miss Jackie. Sheis a very friendly person and made me feel immediately welcome at Flow.She’s going to do fantastically at Columbia … I’m so jealous!”
When asked what she will miss most about working at Flow, Jackie replies “The connection between everyone. We always work as a team and everyone is very considerate of you as a person. You’re always supported in whatever you do.”
