Flow recently went behind the scenes of The Insurance Apprentice. Our client, Hollard, is a sponsor of one of the five challenges.
The Insurance Apprentice is the baby of FAnews editor Rianet Whitehead. Now in its second season, it challenges young professionals in the insurance industry to complete five tasks on which they are judged to win the title of The Insurance Apprentice. The apprentices are filmed reality television style as they compete for the challenges, and the episodes run every Friday on The Insurance Apprentice YouTube page.
The Hollard-sponsored challenge was a risk assessment challenge at a factory. The apprentices visited the factory in the evening and had to assess the premises for any risks. They spent the next day working in two groups (there were six apprentices left at that stage of the show), putting a presentation together on what risks they saw at the factory, and their recommendations and suggestions for the client, Justin Massyn, owner of JustX Branding Solutions. Thereafter they presented their findings to Hollard risk surveyors, Roger Ingram and Philani Mbanjwa.
The judges on this season’s The Insurance Apprentice are Hollard’s Justin Naylor, Price Forbes chairperson, Theo Pauw, and MMI Holdings group executive for brand and corporate affairs, Vuyo Lee.
Speaking about why The Insurance Apprentice would be beneficial to any young professional in insurance, Naylor says: “This is a pressure cooker and business course in one. It’s an incredible learning opportunity.”
Naylor says the apprentices did well on this challenge, and to see what went down, you should keep an eye on The Insurance Apprentice YouTube page, where the episodes are aired every Friday as soon as they are done with filming.
The winner of The Insurance Apprentice walks away with a study bursary from Inseta, as well as a trip to Lloyds of London. Milpark School of Financial Planning & Insurance will also sponsor three apprentices to do an online course.
