Thanks to a good working relationship with Mariëtte du Toit-Helmbold of Destinate, Flow was proud to bring another great new site into the world last week – Stellenblog, a new extension to the American Express Stellenbosch Wine Routes online presence.
Stellenbosch Wine Routes approached Destinate about creating an online space where a community of storytellers could share their love of the winelands, and connect the wine and tourism industries in the area with the world.
This was a perfect job for Flow Communications, which designed and built Stellenblog over a period of a few weeks.
Project leader Roy Barford says the motivation behind the layout of the blog was to allow for additions to be made to the site in the future, and to ensure that it was responsive to any device that a user might be reading it on. The “Partners” section showcases wine estates in the area that have paid for exclusive coverage on the site, and these partners will enjoy a number of great marketing opportunities by getting involved. Some of Flow’s in-house writers, as well as guest bloggers, are contributing to the fresh, regular content on the site, all geared towards letting tourists know about everything there is to offer in the Stellenbosch area. And there is a lot to offer!
“A destination is equal to the people of that place, and no visitor wants a plastic ‘Disney’ destination,” said Annareth Bolton, CEO of Stellenbosch Wine Routes.
“Authenticity is essential to the successful positioning of the region, and giving the people of Stellenbosch a voice and a platform for their colourful stories to be told is a key objective of this blog and the overall Stellenbosch Experience campaign. We are so excited about Stellenblog, and the compliments are streaming in!”
You can read some of the blogs already posted on the site here, and remember to check back regularly for the latest stories.
Mariëtte says she is happy to have worked with Flow on this project.
“Flow is the perfect digital agency partner for Destinate. The quality of their work is excellent, but their genuine passion for tourism development and commitment to innovative marketing is what really makes the partnership work. They embrace each project, no matter what size it is, with great enthusiasm and attention to detail. I look forward to working with them on this campaign, as we promote wine tourism to South Africa.”
Before launching Destinate, Mariëtte was the CEO of Cape Town Tourism for nearly a decade, and the organisation boasted many notable achievements under her leadership during this time. For the last five years of her tenure, Flow was Cape Town Tourism’s official web and e-marketing partner, and we established a good working relationship in this time.
